FATA Secretariat ordered to compensate slain FC officials’ heirs
At least 91 FC men died in the suicide attack at a training centre in Charsadda

The FATA Secretariat has been directed to ensure that families of 35 Frontier Constabulary personnel, who died in a terrorist attack in 2011, are paid financial compensation within a month, as per the law.
Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Syed Afsar Shah issued the orders on Thursday while hearing a petition filed by Mehrunnisa, widow of Kiramatullah, and other bereaved families.
Sardar Ali Raza and Matiullah Marwat, counsels for the petitioners, told the court that on May 13, 2011, over 91 FC personnel died in a suicide attack at a training centre in Shabqadar, Charsadda.
According to the counsels, the families of deceased personnel were paid Rs0.5 million each, even though the government’s policy had put the amount at Rs3 million.
The court then order the FATA Secretariat to ensure that the compensation amount promised by the government be paid to the families within a month, as per the law.
Aggrieved families can submit applications with the secretariat to avail the compensation.
