Pesco issue: Report demanded over alleged corruption

ISLAMABAD:
A sub-committee of the Senate Standing Committee asked the Ministry of Water and Power on Wednesday to submit details of the investigation over the alleged involvement of a top official of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco).
He asked the secretary of the water and power ministry to submit a report about what investigation the ministry had conducted.

The meeting, convened by Senator Nisar Muhammad, was held in the Parliament House to inquire into the alleged corruption charges along with the grant of irregular promotions in violation of prescribed rules.
Muhammad observed that the current chief executive of Pesco had also stated that the predecessor had been allegedly involved in corruption. He said that the ministry was silent over the issue despite the fact that it had already surfaced in the media.
He asked the secretary of the water and power ministry to submit a report about what investigation the ministry had conducted.
