Protesting privatisation: PESCO offices remain closed

A sit-in was held outside the Pesco head office in the provincial capital.

PESHAWAR:
Offices of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) remained closed for the second consecutive day as employees continued to protest on Wednesday against the privatisation of power distribution companies. A sit-in was held outside the Pesco head office in the provincial capital and led by All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union. Haji Muhammad Saleem, chairman of internal audit in the union, announced protesters will hold a sit-in outside the Governor House on Thursday (today). According to Saleem, protesters are trying not to create problems for customers.
