For public welfare: Feedback sought on drug prices

Measures are also being taken to address the menace of spurious drugs

KARACHI:
Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) Chief Executive Officer Mohmammad Aslam has advised the public to immediately register their respective misgivings about quality and cost of medicines in their use with the authority. He said requests submitted by the drug manufacturing companies seeking raise in the cost of products would be settled in the next 90 days. “In case DRAP is unable to do so in the given period, bonafide companies can themselves increase the cost of medicines by eight percent and not more,” he added. He said every medicine has to be within the purchasing capacity of the people without compromising on quality. Measures are also being taken to address the menace of spurious drugs, and raids are being conducted against elements engaged in the nefarious business.
