For transparency: Fake voters omitted from electoral rolls

The list contains names of 617,000 voters

GILGIT: The G-B election commission has received a draft of the computerised electoral lists from which NADRA has omitted names of nearly 115,000 fake voters. The list contains names of 617,000 voters from the seven districts of G-B. “As per the rules, the lists would be put on display for three weeks in the districts for voters to suggest corrections, if any,” an official of the commission told The Express Tribune on Tuesday. The commission will then release the election schedule by March 25 after the list is rectified. Officials said the draft lists have been dispatched to DCs with instructions to display them at places where the public in their respective districts can conveniently view them. The computerisation of the lists by NADRA has resulted in the omission of those voters who were believed to be fake, but were counted in the election that was held in 2009.
