Behind bars: Edu director's bail rejected
Both government officers are accused of embezzlement of public funds
KARACHI:
The bail application for the director of school education Karachi, Abdul Wahab Abbasi, and his assistant, Sayed Saghir Wasti, were dismissed by an anti-corruption court.
Both government officers are accused of embezzlement of public funds by drawing salaries and pension in the name of ghost employees. They are currently under jail custody till March 5.
The suspects pleaded the court grant them bail under section 497 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, claiming they had been falsely implicated.
The prosecution argued that there was strong evidence against them. Judge Gulshan Ara Chandio rejected the application.
