PESHAWAR/SHANGLA:


The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in the provincial capital has forecasted more rain across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.


Speaking to The Express Tribune on Sunday, a Met official said incessant downpour and hails are expected over the next 24 hours in upper parts of the province.

“Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Charsadda and various parts of Malakand and Hazara divisions will also experience heavy showers,” he added. According to the official, snowfall is also expected in parts of the province.



The official added Peshawar received rain from morning till 5pm.


“Peshawar has received 9mm of rain,” the official said. “Cherat has received 28mm rain whereas Risalpur has received 10mm.” Kohat has received 10mm, Saidu Sharif 4mm, Kakul 5mm and Dir 3mm of rain, he added.

No rain-related casualties had been reported till this report was filed.

Throughout the day, a light drizzle in different parts of the province compelled people to remain indoors to watch the third match played by Pakistani in the World Cup.

Snow woes

Residents of Shangla encountered countless problems after a fresh spell of rain and snow lashed the district.

According to residents, a heavy downpour began in the morning in Besham, Alpuri, Chakesar and Puran. Up to five feet of snow has been recorded in Shangla Top, Yakh Tangay, Spin Ghar and Kapar Bandha.

The inclement weather resulted in a power breakdown and water shortages in the district.
