Service rules: ‘All institutions must follow govt’s policies’
Their counsel argued that the PEF had not obeyed the chief minister’s directive
LAHORE:
Justice Faisal Zaman of Lahore High Court observed on Friday that autonomous institutions, affiliated with the government, could not ignore government’s policies. The court was hearing a plea by some Punjab Education Foundation employees against their termination from service.
Their counsel argued that the PEF had not obeyed the chief minister’s directive for regularising them. He said the PEF chairman and MD had sacked the petitioners in violation of the directive. He requested the court to cancel their termination and reinstate them as regular employees. Justice Zaman directed the PEF chairman to submit a reply explaining how an autonomous institution could ignore the government’s order.
