ASWJ leader killed near Karachi's Safora Chowrangi
As per initial reports, at least two armed men riding a motorcycle shot the victims multiple times and fled
KARACHI:
A prayer leader belonging to the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) was killed and another injured in a firing incident near Safora Chowrangi in Karachi.
“Maulana, along with Ahmed Matin, were exiting a mosque when armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on them,” said inquiry officer Muhammad Ismail of the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station.
Maulana died on the spot while his companion was admitted to Jinnah hospital with critical injuries, added Ismail.
While quoting initial investigation, he termed the incident a targeted attack, while investigation is underway.
ASWJ spokesperson said Maulana Muhammad Yasir was a party leader from Safora Chowrangi area.
Separately, two people, Ali Haider and Muhammad Saleem, were reportedly shot near Orangi Town in Karachi.

The victims were employees of Qatar Hospital in Orangi Town. While Haider is in a critical condition in the ICU of the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Rizvi has passed away.
