LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif accepted Punjab Advocate General Muhammad Hanif Khatana’s resignation on Wednesday. Khatana had tendered his resignation on Tuesday citing personal reasons. Khatana was appointed an assistant advocate general in 1999 soon after then army chief Pervez Musharraf had taken over. He was later promoted to additional advocate general in 2014 when the Lahore High Court ruled against Mustafa Ramday’s appointment as principal law officer of the province. The AGP office staff gave Khatana a farewell party on Wednesday afternoon. There are rumours that the AGP has resigned because the government was looking to appoint a new AGP.
