Case closed: Accused acquitted for want of evidence

The prosecution claimed that Nadeem was accompanied by his absconding accomplice

KARACHI:
An anti-terrorism court acquitted on Monday an accused in a murder case for lack of evidence. Mubashir Nadeem was accused of murdering a worker of Sunni Tehreek (ST), Muhammad Rashid and injuring another, Rizwan Qadri, by firing outside the mausoleum of ST leader Saleem Qadri in Baldia Town in 2013. The prosecution claimed that Nadeem was accompanied by his absconding accomplice, identified as Aziz, on a motorcycle. The ATC-V judge, Javed Alam, cleared Nadeem of all charges. The judge observed that “the prosecution failed to bring on record any evidence that the accused caused the death of Rashid.” The order further read that the case of the absconding accused be kept dormant and be re-activated on his arrest.
