SHO Boat Basin injured during Karachi encounter

Police apprehended one of the suspects while the other managed to escape

KARACHI:
SHO Boat Basin police station Naseer Tanoli was injured during an exchange of fire with suspects riding a motorcycle on Clifton flyover on Tuesday evening.

Inquiry Officer SI Younus told The Express Tribune that the encounter took place when the SHO, along with his team, was returning to the police station after attending a meeting in District South DIG office.

He added that the police tried to intercept two suspects riding a motorcycle when the suspects opened fire.


In the subsequent exchange of fire, Tanoli, and one of the suspects were injured. The police managed to apprehend the injured suspect while his accomplice managed to escape, leaving the motorcycle behind.

Police have impounded the motorcycle, and have begun the investigation.

Tanoli was shifted to a private hospital in Clifton to receive treatment for the wound he suffered on his thigh. The injured suspect was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre under police custody.
