In the dark: PTI MPAs to protest against power outages
Say resolution against load-shedding will be presented before K-P Assembly.
PESHAWAR:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa MPAs from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have warned the federal government that they would start protesting if it failed to end prolonged power outages in the province. A resolution to this affect would also be presented before the K-P Assembly, they said.
PTI’s Peshawar District President Yaseen Khalil, MPA Arif Yousuf and Mehmood Khan along with party workers held a news conference at Peshawar Press Club after protesting against the federal government on Monday.
“The government should ensure Federal Water and Power Minister Abid Sher Ali does not interfere with the affairs of the province,” Khalil said. “Wapda officials were asked to conduct maximum load-shedding in Peshawar and K-P,” he alleged.
The MPAs said they would present a resolution against such power outages during the ongoing session of the K-P Assembly. “There should be equal load-shedding throughout the country. It is the people of K-P who voted for PTI that are being made to suffer the most,” said Khalil. He added up to eighteen hours of power outages had badly affected businesses and routine life. The MPAs also criticised Wapda officials, saying no efforts were made to resolve the problem despite repeated assurances.
