Internal resistance: Lawyer distributes pamphlets against Lahore Bar leaders

Pamphlets accusing the Lahore Bar Association leaders for patronising illegal activities at the district and sessions court premises were distributed amongst lawyers on Saturday.

The lawyers were urged to raise their voice against the incumbent executives. Supreme Court of Pakistan advocate, Azar Latif Khan, who authored these pamphlets, told The Express Tribune that he held no grudges against anyone in the LBA in particular. He said he had written and distributed the pamphlet to raise awareness about illegal activities being carried out in the name of the LBA.

The pamphlet contained a list of questions for the LBA executive including the law under which the association was managing a motorcycle parking stand on the court premises and if it intended to take any action on complaints of misconduct towards judges and litigants by its members.

It demanded that the LBA take action against elements involved in undermining law and order on court premises.

It also raised the issue of campaign spending in LBA election.

The distribution of pamphlets comes a few days after a group of lawyers including some LBA officials locked the courtroom of Additional District and Sessions Judge Farrukh Hussain on his refusal to release on bail a man held in fraud case without hearing the prosecution’s arguments.
