LONDON:
Harry Kane wrote another chapter in his storybook season as the Tottenham striker rescued a 2-2 draw with the last kick of a pulsating London derby against West Ham on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino's team had fallen 2-0 behind at White Hart Lane as the Hammers struck through Cheikhou Kouyate and Diafra Sakho, but an error by goalkeeper Adrian allowed Danny Rose to halve the deficit with nine minutes left.

And when Kane was fouled in the area by Alex Song deep into second half stoppage-time, he kept his composure to smash in the rebound after his spot-kick was saved.

In the 22nd minute, Tottenham failed to clear a West Ham attack but still had plenty of defenders between ball and goal as the ball was worked down the left to Aaron Cresswell. When the left-back swung the ball across, Cheikhou Kouyate rose unmarked to head firmly past Lloris.

And the Hammers doubled their lead in the 62nd minute as Mark Noble crossed from the left, two defenders went with Enner Valencia, and Diafra Sakho stole in unnoticed at the far post to touch the ball back across Hugo Lloris and in.

But staring down the barrel, the home side fought back and scored two late goals to secure a vital point in their hunt for a Champions League spot.

Van Gaal frustrated by Man United slip-up

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal expressed frustration after his side squandered a chance to avenge their Premier League opening day loss to Swansea City in a 2-1 defeat.

"It is always frustrating when you dominate a team and lose," Van Gaal told reporters. "Your disappointment is much bigger because of that. If you think they deserved to win, you have to say.

United skipper Wayne Rooney also echoed his manager’s sentiments. "We certainly deserved to win the game," said the United captain. "That's the disappointing thing. When you play well and can't get the win. But that's football."

City raring to go against Barcelona

After a statement 5-0 drubbing of Newcastle, Manuel Pellegrini believes Manchester City are in far better form to take on Barcelona in this season's Champions League than they were when they lost to the same opponents in the competition 12 months ago.

"It is better because last year we arrived in February after we played 18 games, nine in December and nine in January," said Pellegrini. "Of those 18, we won 16 and drew two. I think we arrived not in our best moment. All the games are different but we are going to try from the beginning as we did today to be an aggressive team and to try and score goals.

"Maybe it is not a normal game because it is 180 minutes so you must try to score but try not to concede. But on Tuesday I am sure you will see our team trying to play in the same way."

Victory over Newcastle came courtesy of two goals from David Silva, a Sergio Aguero penalty, Samir Nasri and a goal from Edin Dzeko, his first since late September.

Mourinho fumes at 'criminal' Barnes foul

Jose Mourinho accused Burnley's Ashley Barnes of making a "criminal" tackle on Chelsea's Nemanja Matic as the Blues' boss let rip at refereeing standards and media coverage of his team.

Matic was sent off for his angry reaction to Barnes' tackle in the 70th minute of Chelsea's 1-1 draw against struggling Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. "If you look at these moments you know exactly what I think about the game," he said.
