Inflation: Spi rises 20%

SPI for combined income group for week ended on November 25 shows an increase of 20.54 per cent.

ISLAMABAD:
The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the combined income group for the week ended on November 25 showed an increase of 20.54 per cent as compared to the corresponding week of last year.

The SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs3,000, registered a decrease of 0.90 per cent over the previous week and stood at 298.77 points against 301.48 points, according to provisional figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).


The SPI covers 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups. For the combined income group, the index declined 0.75 per cent dropping from 284.93 points in the previous week to 282.78 points in the week under review.

During the week under review, average prices of 13 items decreased, prices of 15 items increased and prices of 25 items remained unchanged.
