Redressing grievances: Appellate board set up for police officials

The board will comprise two to three senior police officials who will review appeals and make decisions.

PESHAWAR:
A special appellate board has been established at the city police office to enable police officials to redress their grievances in a professional and transparent manner. The board will comprise two to three senior police officials who will review appeals and make decisions. According to IGP Nasir Khan Durrani, in the past only one person was appointed to review these matters. However, from now on the board will oversee these responsibilities and provide a transparent and professional method to redress grievances. “The appellate board will put an end to nepotism,” Durrani said. “The career of police officials will no longer depend on the discretion exercised by a single person.” Under the new system, police officials will be provided an opportunity to explain their point of view to the board, he added.
