MILAN: An Egyptian student in Italy took to the streets and walked around dressed as an imam while carry a copy of the Holy Quran to record reactions of passers by, Mail Online reported. 

Hamdy Mahisen decided to conduct the social experiment to test how tolerant the people of Milan were of Muslims. To conduct his experiment, he walked for five hours dressed in white robes and a cap worn my Muslim men.

The results showed that torrents of abuse were hurled at the 30-year-old as he attracted astonished stared and terms such as "Taliban" were also screamed out at him.

Several references to terrorism were also made including one person who said "S*** have you seen the ISIS" while another person remarked "Imagine if he has a gun under his tunic."

The experiment came among escalating tensions between Italians and the Muslims residing in Italy following terror attacks in Paris and Copenhagen.

It has been reported that Islamic State could soon bring terror into Europe.
