Armed robbers on Thursday looted the house of former acting president and ex-Senate chairman Wasim Sajjad in the limits of Shahzad Town Police Station.
The incident took place hours after an imambargah was attacked in Shakrial, in the precinct of Shahzad Town police.
Law enforcement agencies had claimed to have carried out an operation in Shakrial, Ghauri Town, Iqbal Town, Qatbal Town and surrounding areas after the imambargah attack. Police said 15 suspects were arrested during the search with weapons. But the robbers still managed to carry out the robbery in the wee hours on Thursday.
According to a police spokesperson, four robbers entered the farmhouse between 3am and 4am and held four people, including a guest, hostage at gunpoint.
He said the robbers entered the farmhouse from backside and went straight into the room of the former president, who was not present in the house at the time. They gathered the hostages in the room, gathered the valuables and went out through the same route.
The spokesperson said a policeman was posted at the gate but he was unaware of the robbery since the house is at a distance from the main gate. They took away cash, jewellery, a pistol, watches and other valuables.
A case has been registered.
