Five out of the six employees of Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) who were kidnapped on February 6 have been freed after an exchange of fire between security forces and kidnappers in the Qamardin Karez area of Zhob district.
The son of one of the PTCL employees is still in the captivity of the kidnappers, DC Zhob Nazir Muhammad Kethran told The Express Tribune.
The kidnappers’ phone calls were intercepted and traced, Kethran said. “The Balochistan Levies and Frontier Corps launched a joint operation at 4am in Qamardin Karez to free the kidnapped workers,” he said.
Kethran identified the recovered PTCL workers as Sub-Divisional Officer Naeem Ashraf, Engineer Haji Asad Khan, driver Mohammad Tahir, Sajjad Baig and Ghulam Abbas.
