LAHORE:

Lahore High Court expressed displeasure over the lack of progress in a probe of sexual harassment allegations against the Punjab University vice chancellor.  Justice Ijazul Ahsan was hearing an application seeking VC Mujahid Kamran’s suspension for the duration of the inquiry.

He said it was astonishing that no action had been taken on PU Law College lecturer Khujista Rehan’s petition which has been pending for three years. Professor Zaid Ahmed said a committee was probing harassment allegations against the PU VC without suspending him. He said not relinquishing the post of vice chancellor was affecting the inquiry. He said in all other inquiries of sexual harassment, the instructors accused had been suspended.  The judge was told that a similar plea was pending before Justice Farrukh Irfan so Justice Ahsan referred the case to his bench.
