The Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) board will meet on February 18 to devise a plan for establishment of new ponds to replace the ones included in the area set aside for the construction of a solar power generation plant, CDA manging director Naeem Iqbal Bukhari said on Friday.
He was responding to a query at an open court held at Kalay Para area.
He assured the participants that he would request the provincial government to set aside a quota for Cholistan residents for jobs in the Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park which was still in the construction phase.
Bukhari said the meeting would also discuss the ongoing water shortage in the region and the complaints regarding the different jurisdictions of various government departments. Earlier, some of the participants had complaint about the inconvenience caused due to differences in the administrative boundaries of various government departments.
Bukhari also announced that an anti-encroachment cell would soon be established to take action against people involved in illegal occupation of land. He assured the meeting that the CDA would give priority to area residents in allotment of land in Cholistan.
He said applications would not be rejected if they were missing some required information.
He said such applicants would be contacted and asked to provide the missing information. He added that all applications would be verified with the cooperation of National Database and Regulatory Authority (Nadra) and the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The managing director told the meeting that a livestock vaccination campaign underway in Cholistan would be completed in three phases.
