QUETTA: Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai narrowly escaped a remote-controlled explosion in the Reko Anjeri area of Naushki district, some 150 kilometres southeast of Quetta, on Saturday.
According to a Balochistan Levies official, unidentified persons planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the route that the chief justice was taking.
The assailants detonated the IED by a remote-controlled device when the chief justice’s convoy passed the area. However, the chief justice and officials present in the convoy remained unhurt in the explosion.
“No one was hurt in the explosion,” the Levies official said.
A heavy contingent of Levies officials and security forces reached the site after the incident.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
