LAHORE:

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday that strict implementation of a new law restricting the use of loudspeakers at mosques only for the prayer call (azaan) and emergency announcements would be ensured.

He was chairing a meeting to review law and order in the province.

The use of mosque loudspeakers for any other purpose has been declared illegal under an ordinance issued in accordance with the National Action Plan. He directed the officials present at the meeting to also ensure action against anyone found involved in printing and distribution of hate material and wall-chalking.

The meeting was told that monitoring committees had been established for the purpose at the district, divisional and provincial levels.
