Mandarin festival: Kinnow research institute planned
96% of kinnows are produced in Sargodha, claims Parliamentary secretary

ISLAMABAD:
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) organised a one-day Mandarin Festival for the promotion of kinnow and citrus varieties of the country.
Parliamentary Secretary Mohsin Ranjha, in his remarks, said the initiative would promote the country’s kinnows and encourage fruit growers to increase production. He said Pakistan was an agriculture-based country and 96% of kinnows were produced in Sargodha.
He announced that a research institute would be established for building the capacity of farmers and a specific processing zone would also be set up for kinnow export.
Appreciating the TDAP’s efforts for the promotion of the country’s trade, he added that the kinnow research institute would develop seedless varieties of the fruit.
