The Supreme Court has summoned the chief secretaries and the Local Bodies Secretaries of Punjab and Sindh on February 26.
“We are not satisfied with the provinces’ stance”, said Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, adding that LG polls were held in Balochistan. “I think we will call the chief secretaries and the local bodies secretaries of the provinces and give them the direction and if they do not comply with the court order, the chief ministers will be called,” he further observed.

The Supreme Court has summoned the chief secretaries and the Local Bodies Secretaries of Punjab and Sindh on February 26.
The three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk hearing the local government elections case, noted that the provincial governments seem to be dragging their feet over holding LB polls. The top court in its March 19, 2014 order had fixed November 15, 2014 as deadline for the announcement of an election schedule and completing the process required for holding the polls. The bench observed that the delay amounted to violation of the Constitution.
