PARC, Oxfam to share innovations
Will collaborate in transferring scientific knowledge, generating jobs.
ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (Parc) and Oxfam Novib (Pakistan) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) envisaging cooperation between the two organisations in transferring scientific innovations to the end users.
The MoU was signed by Secretary Parc Dr Munir Ahmad and Imrana Farooqi on behalf of Associate Country Director Oxfam-Novib, Arie Schuurmans, according to a statement issued by PARC.
According to the MoU, both the organisations would cooperate in sharing and disseminating knowledge, developing a large cadre of new entrepreneurs besides promoting and generating income and employment opportunities.
They would also organise training of jointly selected entrepreneurs from the communities in agreed agriculture sectors, while technical assistance would be provided to the communities in the successful implementation of potential business.
The MoU would remain operative for five years which could be extended by mutual understanding.
Parc Chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmad expressed the hope that the MoU would help transfer technology to the end users for the benefit of the agriculture sector.
