AIB controversy: Another FIR registered against KJo, Arjun, Ranveer, Alia, Deepika

The case was registered against 14 people in Mumbai on court orders

Mumbai police on Thursday registered a case against 14 people including director/producer Karan Johar, actors Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhat, Deepika Padukone and organisers of the show.

Trouble for the organisers of AIB Roast increased on Thursday as another FIR was registered, this time in Mumbai, Press Trust of India reported.

Acting on the court orders, Mumbai police on Thursday registered a case against 14 people including director/producer Karan Johar, actors Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhat, Deepika Padukone and organisers of the show.

Last Friday, Pune police had registered an FIR against AIB Roast organisers and participants for allegedly using obscene and abusive language during the AIB Roast event held in Mumbai.

At the roast, the complainant Wazir Shaikh claims “Ranveer Singh publicly kissed Deepika Padukone and she responded; both behaved obscenely.”

The FIR is filed under sections for indecent behavior and stars may face punishment upto five to 10 years of imprisonment and fine upto Rs0.2 million.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised action against organisers of the controversial comedy show if it had violated any law.

Objectionable or not

Karan Johar was apparently given an earful from his friends in the industry for his participation in the controversial AIB Roast, reported Times of India.

The report stated that Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have criticised Karan for participating in the act, especially when his mother was sitting in the front row, the entire time.

After shooting for the show, Karan Johar had confided in his close aides that his mother did not mind the jokes, rather she had a good time, stated the report.

The latest celebrity to support the AIB Knockout is Ram Gopal Varma, reported Times of India.

The filmmaker posted a series of tweets that read, “The AIB show is final proof that India has finally come of age and I truly appreciate Karan for taking the plunge or more correctly the leap; anyone who condemns Karan’s AIB Show whether from government or various organisations are just the figureheads of repressive regressions.”

The famous director said the sheer popularity of the AIB was a call to the censor board to wake up and look at new India.

“Karan took the lid off a volcano of lies and hypocrisies and history will remember him as the guy who invented new India,” he said.
