Denying land for graves: Action to be taken against management

The CDA has allocated two graveyards — one in Sector H-8 and the other in Sector H-11 — for Muslims.

ISLAMABAD:

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab on Wednesday assured the National Assembly that strict action will be taken against the management of graveyards for not allowing residents of the federal capital to bury their deceased.

Speaking on a calling attention notice of Members National Assembly Shaista Pervaiz, Leila Khan, Ayesha Raza Farooq, Asiya Nasir and Kiran Haider, the minister said residents having computerised national identity cards of the capital will be allowed to be buried in the local graveyards.

The CDA has allocated two graveyards — one in Sector H-8 and the other in Sector H-11 — for Muslims. The minister informed the house that katchi abadis having legal status have also been allocated graveyards, adding that land for a separate graveyard for minorities has also been allotted.
