Petrol crisis: PSO board dissolved, OGRA chairman sent on forced leave
A two-member committee had held Ogra and PSO responsible for the petrol crisis in the country
ISLAMABAD:
Days after a two-member committee held the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) responsible for the grueling petrol crisis in the country, the petroleum ministry has dissolved the PSO management board and has sent Ogra Chairman Saeed Ahmed Khan on a forced leave of three months.
Rejecting the committee's findings, Ogra argued that maintaining stocks was a duty of the director-general of the Oil and the petroleum Ministry.
On January 21, the prime minister suspended PSO’s deputy managing director finance Sohail Bhatti. Earlier, he had removed Petroleum Secretary Abid Saeed, Additional Petroleum Secretary Naeem Malik, DG Oil CM Azam and PSO’s acting Managing Director Amjad Janjua.
