LAHORE:

Lahore High Court directed the Kasur SP on Tuesday to record statements of six suspects accused of lynching a Christian man and his wife in Kot Radha Kishan. The court was hearing their pleas for bail.

Counsel for the suspects said police had not recorded their statements which made it look like they had been arrested under political pressure. He said his clients were not present at the scene of the crime. At the previous hearing, the investigation officer told the court police had not recorded their suspects’ statements and the court directed him to record them. On Tuesday, the IO said he had been unable to do so. The court then summoned the SP on a short notice and directed him to record the statements in prison.
