Monthly tax collection: Rs25.5b shortfall so far

Shortfall expected to decrease by Rs10-12 billion by the end of the month.

ISLAMABAD:
The shortfall in tax revenue collection for the month of November stands at Rs25.5 billion right now but is expected to decrease by Rs10-12 billion by the end of the month.

According to sources within the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), total tax collection stood at Rs85.5 billion last night, which was Rs25.5 billion less than the month’s collection target of Rs111 billion. Earlier, the FBR had revised the tax collection target for November downwards by Rs7.1 billion from its initial target of Rs118.1 billion.


Sources said that direct tax collected for the month to date stood at Rs23 billion, sales tax at Rs43 billion, customs duties at Rs10.5 billion and federal excise duty at Rs9 billion.

The FBR managed to surpass its target for October by collecting Rs105 billion in tax revenues against a target of Rs104.3 billion.
