ATC indicts Sufi Muhammad in treason case
Maulana Sufi Muhammad was charged with treason for calling the democratically-elected govt ‘un-Islamic’
PESHAWAR:
An Anti-terrorism Court in Peshawar indicted chief of the outlawed militant outfit Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariah Mohammadi (TNSM) Maulana Sufi Muhammad for treason and sedition, Express News reported.
During the hearing in Peshawar Central Jail, the head of the banned outfit was charged with treason and sedition which he denied subsequently. The hearing has been adjourned till February 21.
Sufi Muhammad was charged for terming democracy and the democratic government of Pakistan as ‘un-Islamic’ in a speech for which he was charged with treason.
Sufi Muhammad is also the father-in-law of the Tehreek-e-Taliban chief Maulana Fazlullah's father-in-law.
