Protest for promotion: NA initiates action against 200 employees

ISLAMABAD:


Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against about 200 employees of the National Assembly Secretariat for staging a protest about two months ago.


The employees had staged the protest in front of the office of Leader of Opposition Khursheed Shah to press for their demand for promotions, which were pending since long. National Assembly Secretariat’s Joint Secretary (Legislation) Muhammad Mushtaq has been appointed as an inquiry officer.


According to a notice issued to these employees, they tried to exert political pressure on the authorities to stop ongoing process of framing and reviewing recruitment rules.


It also alleges that they maligned the competent authority and approached political dignitaries to press for their demands.


The protesting employees also took away official documents and circulated them among the print and electronic media, it further alleged.
