Partnership: PBIT extends help to Sindh counterpart

Both discuss ways of attracting investments.

In an effort to promote cooperation, Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) Director General Projects, Policy and Research, Lubna Pathan visited the Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) and met its Chairman, Dr Asif A Brohi here on Friday.

In the meeting, the PBIT DG deliberated upon its activities, vision, policies and investment in various sectors, said a statement.

According to Pathan, besides investing in different sectors, PBIT is focusing on development and investment in the agriculture and livestock sectors.



“Investment from Qatar, Afghanistan and Central Asian countries is the main focus of PBIT and currently we are also focusing on the Canadian market,” she added.

In addition, she proposed that SBI and PBIT should look at different avenues of mutual interest to cooperate with each other.


Pathan was of the view that in the future both the boards can chalk out mutual promotional activities to stimulate investment in Pakistan. Business conferences, road shows and seminars at the local and foreign levels could be organised in this regard, she said.

Brohi praised the PBIT chief’s initiative of finding a common ground to boost investment in varying sectors of the economy both domestically and internationally.

He reiterated the need for joint efforts in the agriculture sector for value addition and value chain to attract more buyers.

Moreover, SBI DG and SBI Vice Chairperson Naheed Memon presented details of current activities of SBI in the different sectors of the economy and its future vision.
