Islamic State (IS), who had earlier this week posted a video showing how they burned a Jordanian pilot to death, has claimed that an American hostage in their custody was killed in fresh airstrikes by Jordan in Raqqa on Friday, The Daily Beast reported on Friday.

The hostage was identified as 26-year-old aid worker Kayla Jean Mueller. She worked for the Support to Life group in Turkey which offered support and relief to Syrian refugees.

According to the SITE intelligence monitoring group, the woman’s death is unconfirmed as it is unclear when she might have been killed, or if she was actually executed by the group.

She was captured in Syria in August 2013, along with a group of other aid workers who have reportedly been released.

IS had reportedly demanded more than $6 million as ransom for her release.
