LAHORE:
A man shot dead three women before pulling the gun on himself outside the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore Wednesday evening.

The motive of the deadly shooting incident is still unknown, however, it appears that it might have happened due to some domestic disputes, an official said.

According to police, the man was riding in the same car as the three women. The deceased were identified as two sisters, Maira and Naila, their mother Fareeda, and their killer Muhammad Bashir, said to be a friend of the two sisters’ father, Younis.

On a passerby’s call, a police team reached the crime scene and found that of the four persons only one woman was alive. But she too was in a critical condition. They immediately shifted her to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police said the car was parked in a desolate area because the deceased apparently had to discuss some matters which culminated in the deadly firing incident.

SSP CIA Branch Umer Virk told The Express Tribune that the man who was identified as Muhammad Bashir is a friend of the sisters’ father Younis. “The motive behind the killings is unclear but the incident appears to be the result of a domestic dispute,” he added.

Umer Virk also said that after the shooting incident, Naila who was initially injured, sent a text message to her brother, telling him that they had been shot at by Basheer which proves that Basheer killed them first before committing suicide.

SHO Gulberg Police Station, Zulfiqar Butt told The Express Tribune that Bashir was sitting in the rear seat along with one of the sisters, Maira, while the other two women sat in the front with their mother Fareeda in the driving seat.

According to a private guard, Subhani, working at a nearby restaurant, who claimed to be an eyewitness, “I was helping a car which had come to the restaurant to get parked when the incident took place,” adding that the man in the car appeared to have a disagreement with the women when he opened fire on them before shooting himself as well.

The police said the man first shot Maira then opened fire at mother, Fareeda, before wounding the second sister Naila with gunshots.
