KARACHI:
The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Karachi police chief to withdraw field postings of two officers, who were being probed for allegedly killing a man in fake encounter.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim, also ordered police chief to hold impartial inquiry against ex-SHO Sohrab Goth Shoaib and ex-SHO Sachal Ismail Lashari.

The judges also ordered the DIG CIA to provide complete protection to the petitioner, Anwar Ali, who had accused the two officers of killing his son in a staged encounter and harassing his family by filing case against them.

The court issued the directions following a petition filed by the two accused police officers. They had challenged the Sindh High Court’s order of registering a case for murder against them.

The bench warned that in case any harm comes to the petitioner or his family, the two officers will be directly held responsible.
