Old Ravians Union gets new executive committee

Government College University alumni elect executive committee of the Old Ravians’ Union for the 2010-12 session.

LAHORE: The Government College University alumni on Sunday elected the executive committee of the Old Ravians’ Union for the 2010-12 session.

Nuclear scientist Dr Samar Mubarakmand had already been elected as the president of the Union unopposed.

Mansoor Feroze Khan beat Amanat Ali Ghalib with a margin of 125 votes to be elected the vice president.

Talat Altaf Khan was elected the vice president on ladies seat. Advocate Mian Muhammad Ahmad Chachhar and Javiad Qasim Warraich secured the seats of General secretaryand treasurer respectively.

Ghulam Murtaza Paracha, Prof Ahmed Hussain, Taha Sadaqat, Saeed Ahmed Buksh, Kazi Afaq Hussain, Zoriaz Lashari, Shamimur Rehman Malik and Dr Salman Haider were elected as executive members.

Outgoing president Kamran Lashari chaired the annual general body meeting which approved Union’s accounts for the years 2008-10. The meeting proposed a few amendments to the ORU constitution.

However, it was decided that these would first be discussed by the Executive Council during its next session and then presented before the General Body for approval.
