Stranger danger: Two arrested for assaulting children

Two people were arrested for assaulting two children in separate incidents on Monday.


Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Ghaziabad, told Sargodha Road police his nine-year-old daughter was going to a shop to purchase some kitchen utensils when Muhammad Ismail* abducted her.

He said the man took him to an abandoned shop where he assaulted her.


He said on hearing her cries, some villagers had gathered around the shop. He said the man fled, leaving the girl behind.

The Sargodha Road SHO said the suspect had been arrested. He said a case had been registered against him under Sections 376 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Separately, Batala Colony police claimed to have arrested a man accused of assaulting a nine-year-old boy.

Naveed Ali had told police that his nephew was playing in the street near Chishtia Chowk at Maqbool Road when Abdur Rehman abducted him. He said the man took him to Dispensary Park where he assaulted him. He said when people of the area heard his nephew’s cries for help, the man left him there and fled. The Batala Colony SHO said the man had been arrested in a raid a few hours after the complaint was registered.
