Anti-measles drive: Health department achieves over 50% target

The District Health Department said on Monday it has so far achieved over 50 per cent target during the ongoing anti-measles drive that was launched on January 26 across the district.


Executive District Officer (EDO) Health Dr Khalid Randahawa said during the drive, 104,636 children were given anti-measles vaccines in Gujar Khan, 37,086 in Kahuta and 25,376 in Kallar Syedan.

Similarly, 17,652 children were vaccinated in Kotli Sattian, 35,121 in Murree, 85,649 in Taxila, 155,896 in rural areas, 177,497 in cantonment areas and 123,231 in Rawalpindi city. He said the set target of reaching 1,386,934 children will be achieved till February 9, when the drive concludes.



Randhawa said 540 mobile health teams and 192 health centers were operating in the whole district to carry out the immunisation drive.

District Programme Coordinator Dr Javaid Iqbal, meanwhile, urged parents to cooperate with health teams to rid society of the crippling disease.

“The parents should cooperate with the teams so the set target could be achieved,” he added.
