Briefing: Meeting reviews rates at weekly bazaars
CDA official orders enhancing security at the markets.
ISLAMABAD:
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Sunday said it was working to ensure a smooth supply of fruit, vegetables and other edibles at its weekly bazaars.
CDA Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed chaired a meeting on Sunday to review the situation at the bazaars. He directed the CDA’s weekly bazaar administration to ensure supply of daily use items and implementation of a rate list.
Ahmed was briefed that weekly bazaars are cheaper than the open markets. He was also informed that potato was being sold at Rs25, onion Rs25, tomato Rs40, ginger Rs116, peas Rs60, carrot Rs24, bell pepper Rs56, pomegranate Rs180, guava Rs60 and orange Rs80 per kilogramme.
The bazaar administration said it was constantly checking rate list violations and quality of the products. Officials added that they had suspended licenses of a few stall holders who had repeatedly violated the authority’s regulations.
The meeting also reviewed security measures in place at the weekly bazaars. The member administration ordered the officials concerned to ensure deployment of security guards at all entrance points of the markets.
