Pilferage: 60 gas connections found illegal

The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Saturday disconnected 60 illegal gas connections in houses around Narwala Road.
SNGPL distribution general manager told The Express Tribune that Deputy Chief Engineer Zafar Mehmood Bhatta, Compliance Officer Aqeel Ahmad and federal coordinator Rafaqat Ali raided houses in Gulshan-i-Barkat, a private housing colony near Jawad Club on Narwala Road.
They said gas connections of 60 houses were found illegal. He said the houses had been stealing gas for over a year.
He said the teams disconnected gas connections and submitted complaints police station for registration of gas pilferage cases against them.
“The SNGPL is estimating the value of the stolen gas after which action would be taken for recovery,” he said. Last week, the SNGPL teams had unearthed gas pilferage at Sitiana Road and detached illegal gas connection to more than 100 houses.
