KARACHI:


A 'human rights complaint register cell' has been constituted at the ombudsman secretariat by the Sindh ombudsman Asad Ashraf Malik, thanks to the efforts of the law, justice and human rights ministry.


The cell will monitor human rights situation in Sindh and the implementation of the International Convention on Human Rights. The proposed cell will be headed by the director-general of the ombudsman secretariat. The director of the directorate of human rights, an advocate of the Supreme Court and the director of minorities affairs will be members.


The cell will hold meetings to monitor the human rights situation in Sindh and other related issues and develop mechanism to prevent and redress human rights violations. It will submit regular reports to the ombudsman.
