50k litres petrol seized in crackdown on oil theft

KARACHI:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Karachi seized a 50,000-litre capacity tanker during a raid against elements involved in illegal oil storage and petrol theft.

The operation was conducted at an illegal oil storage facility located in Korangi Industrial Area, Mehran Town. During the raid, a tanker carrying 49,838 litres of petrol (RON-92) was seized.

The tanker was found to be involved in the theft and illegal transportation of petrol, which was being transferred into temporary drums and then supplied to petrol pumps through Suzuki vehicles.

Acting on the driver's identification, authorities carried out a follow-up raid at Mughal Filling Station (Lucky Petroleum). The station's petroleum licence was verified by the Department of Explosives and found to be fake.

A case has been registered against multiple suspects under sections 409, 406, 420, 468, 471, and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The accused include Muhammad Tariq, Riaz Khan, Abdul Hameed, Liaquat Ali, Dilnawaz, Umar Hayat, Ahmed Khan, Rafiq, Raza Khan, and Faheem Khan.
