BANNU:
A terrorist attack was thwarted on Wednesday when police defused a high-intensity improvised explosive device (IED) in Bannu. The bomb was planted by unidentified militants near a checkpost established to guard an imambargah, a church and a Hindu temple, a police official told The Express Tribune. Police received a tip-off about a bomb planted in the area. They then rushed to the spot along with bomb disposal unit personnel. An IED weighing five kilogrammes was recovered from a tin and subsequently defused.
