Seeking an intervention: Concerns over open drug sale
.
CHITRAL:
Concerned about the open sale of illegal drugs in Chitral’s markets, Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment (DTCE) Chitral chapter has urged the district administration to take action against the drug culture. At a roundtable meeting held on Wednesday, members of DTCE and civil society organisations called for a joint action on the problem by the community, police and other relevant authorities. The participants said drugs and other kinds of medicine are being sold openly in Chitral bazaar without any checks. DTCE members also expressed concerns over increasing cases of theft being reported in the district headquarters. The meeting urged the district administration to stop people from parking outside the Chitral hospital because it blocks roads for patients.
