The nun, hailing originally from South America, belonged to an order called the Missionary Sisters of the Love of Christ in Macereta, located in the Italian region of Le Marche.
She says she had no idea she was pregnant.
When she was taken to the hospital by her sisters, doctors immediately told her she was with child, according to Italian newspaper Il Corriere Adriatico.
The baby is healthy and the nun’s convent has expressed an interest in taking care of him.
Apparently, the nun arrived at the convent in June, and it is believed that she was already pregnant when she arrived.
According to the Italian newspaper L’Unione Sarda, the convent said the woman "is not a nun, is a girl that we are helping” possibly because she had not yet taken her vows.
The woman, who is reported to be from Bolivia, has now been discharged from hospital.

Every child is God's gift. The child may have been conceived due to an error in judgement; it should, however, not be raised on a lie.
What ever the case maybe. We Muslims need not make fun of it.
Shehzad Ghias........this is material for your next blog.....O! the possibilities are boundless.
Another virgin birth ! Hallejujah!
This happened almost an year ago and it seems like tribune just found this out, thanks for the breaking news.
So full of venom all of you - she hadn't taken the vows yet, poor girl probably wanted a safe place to have the baby. Atleast she didn't kill the baby like most of you'll do.
Jesus again?
@abby: Before blaming ET, you should check the headline of that the main source of these news (The Independent). Not only this, search Google News for nun gives birth and almost all newspapers have claimed she was nun. She was actually nun but to avoid embarrassment, the official statement from the convent is claiming that she was not nun.
The title says nun gives birth when in reality she isn't even a nun, she arrived in the convent in June as per say. ET should post better news and titles that make sense. No point in defaming nuns and other religions.
Nothing of surprise, everything was natural. Religious myths must be condemned.
