SUKKUR:
The family of a police constable, who was crushed to death by a speeding truck at Naudero bypass in Larkana on January 21, is still waiting for compensation from senior officials. His colleague, who was injured in the accident, is being treated in Karachi.

On January 21, two police personnel, Mansoor Ali Solangi and Ameer Ali Shahani, were on a routine patrol on their motorcycle. As they reached Naudero bypass, a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction ran over them.  As a result, Mansoor Ali Solangi died on the spot and Ameer Ali Shahani was injured.

Mansoor Ali Shahani, who is Ameer's elder brother, and is employed as a telephone operator in the office of Larkana's DIG, told The Express Tribune that the wheel of the truck had crushed his brother’s abdomen.

Mansoor revealed that the Larkana SSP had given the family Rs50,000 and had promised to give more money to cover the cost of treatment.

The father of the deceased police official, Nisar Ahmed Solangi, on the other hand lamented the apathetic attitude of the senior officials. Some of them had attended the funeral, he said, but very few had visited their house for the soyem. On Saturday, the Larkana deputy commissioner Javed Jagirani visited their house to condole with the family and promised the family would be compensated.

Haideri Police Station SHO Waheed Abro said that both personnel belonged to the Mujahid force. The driver was sleeping at the time of the accident and the cleaner had been driving the vehicle. The latter managed to escape after the accident but the police had arrested the driver, he claimed.
