Negligence: 3 cops held after suspect escapes

KARACHI:
A police officer and two police constables were arrested after an alleged street criminal managed to escape from a police lockup on Friday. Two suspects, Abdul Shakoor and Umair, were arrested from DHA Phase I by Defence police on Thursday as they were looting passersby. On Friday, one of the suspects, Abdul Shakoor, managed to escape after which the duty officer, ASI Azam, and two policemen who were on guard duty, constables Kashif and Sajjad, were suspended and then arrested. An FIR No. 66/15 was also registered against them while an inquiry has also been initiated against them to ascertain whether or not the suspect had their help, confirmed Defence police station SHO Kenson Dean.
